Heartland Campus Solutions recently held our 2014 OneCard User Group Conference in Clearwater, FL from October 25th to the 28th. I have been attending these conferences since 1994 when I was a system user and had always found great benefit from attending. Not only could I find out about new and upcoming products but also I was able to speak with other campus administrators, learn what they are doing and more importantly, how they are doing it.
As a Heartland team member, the User Group Conference is still one of my favorite events of the year, The benefits are different and extremely valuable to us as a company. We get to meet with a large percentage of our clients, get feedback on the product, and really listen to their needs. Hearing their ideas and receiving feedback on what we can add to the system to make their work easier is really priceless. It makes us a better company, and I am thankful I am able to participate in that process.
One highlight from the conference is always our Annual Client Awards. The awards recognize individuals and campuses that have contributed to the advancement of the Campus OneCard System and Heartland Campus Solutions.
The John Cunningham Award recognizes an individual for their contribution of ideas to improve the Campus OneCard System and was presented to Tom Watkins, Director of EmoryCard Technology Services at Emory University. Through the years Tom has provided excellent feedback and ideas on how to improve OneCard, many of which have become standard features our clients use on an everyday basis. Tom was instrumental this past year in the development of OneCard CheckIN, a mobile application used to track attendance and privilege verification. Emory University needed an application for tracking doctors and medical students on their Grand Rounds at the hospital in a self-serve fashion through a mobile application. Tom assisted Heartland with the design and beta testing of CheckIN, which has since become a very popular product at many campuses. This award is a memorial to one of Heartland’s long-standing clients, Mr. John Cunningham from the University of Waterloo, who passed away unexpectedly in 2012.
The Kathi Kaminski Award is in recognition for outstanding contributions to the enhancement of Heartland and the campus card industry as a whole. It is named after Kathi Kaminski from St. Norbert College, a past campus card administrator who lost her battle with cancer in 2006. Kathi offered us many ideas through the years, helping to grow as a company, improve our offerings, and meet the needs of our clients. The 2014 award is presented to Mohawk College who has exemplified the principles of partnership over the past year. Mohawk College has consistently looked to help beta test new offerings, work to find new integrated solutions to other campus systems, and also improve awareness about the benefits of campus card technology to other institutions. Mohawk College exemplifies a true partner.
Congratulations to the award recipients for their hard work and contributions. The 2015 Heartland Annual OneCard User Group Conference will be held in Chattanooga, TN in November 2015.
